General Ramblings from Doug and Steve

  • February Mini-Reunion

If you didn't make it you missed a good time!

Thanks to Alice, on Monday, February Th we had a get together at Alice Dad's house.

Alice wanted to take advantage of the fact that Samantha was in town from Guam to get together as many people as possible.  There was 8 of us from the class.

Alice, Samantha, Chris, Felicia, Crystal, Sarah, Julie, and myself.  Alice, Samantha, Chris and Felicia brought their husbands and everyone but me brought their kids.  (My oldest daughter had the flu.)

Seeing everyone as parents is a big change.  All the kids got along great with no injuries.

It was a GREAT time of fellowship and reminiscing about the old days and getting updated with were everyone is now.  A lot of pictures were taken and everyone promised to post them.

Please pray for Samantha's son who is possibly going to have surgery. (Which is why they are home from Guam.)  Keep an eye on the Forums for any updates on his condition.

Thanks again Alice for getting everything set up, it was great fun.

  • Well it's Christmas

Its that time of the year again, Christmas.  It's amazing how time changes things.  Not so many years ago the Christmas season was a chance for a few weeks of vacation.  Now it's the busiest time of the year, not to mention the most expensive.  It also seemed to take forever for the next Christmas to get here, now it seems like last year's Christmas was just last week.  I guess it's just old age setting in.  If its this bad at 32, almost 33, what's it going to be like in another 10yrs?  I guess I'll have to wait another 10yrs to find out.

As I do get older I do start to realize the importance of not forgetting the real reason for the season; through all the chaos of shopping, traveling, cooking, and entertaining, Christ's birth almost becomes an after thought.  If it wasn't for His birth what would be the purpose or the hope in anything we do?   Lets not forgot the whole reason that we celebrate Christmas and the whole reason Christ came.  "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." Matthew 1:21

Well it doesn't look like we in the Mid-West are going to have a white Christmas, we can blame Doug and Alice for taking all of our snow out in Colorado, maybe we'll get one next year.  Hopefully Doug made it safely through the 3 feet of snow to drive back to Illinois.

I pray that everyone has a safe and wonderful Christmas and New Year.

    -Steve

  • Somebody has to be first. . .

Well our fancy web site came with this space for a blog so I guess somebody should put something here.  I have never “blogged” before so bear with me as I learn the ropes.

I would like to thank Doug for getting the ball rolling on this.  If I am not mistaken he had some others who were clamoring for something like this; Lisa, Chris, Alice and Samantha come to mind.

Hum, not much has change in 14 years has it Doug?  Still letting the women push you around?      (Just kidding I really don't have too much room to talk)

Anyway, that’s enough picking on Doug for awhile.

On a personal note I would like to welcome everyone here.   The only way this will be successful is if everyone participates and passes the word along to other classmates and friends.  I think it would be great if we could get friends from other class, before and after us, to get involved.

I am looking forward to renewing old friendships and finding out how everyone is doing.  I often think back on many of the good times we had together.  The other day I was at a large youth activity in Rochelle, IL (Farmtastic to be exact) and I ran into an old friend of mine.  Some of you will remember Dave Lunsford; he was our High School Sunday School teacher at Bethel.  Anyway . . . we were recalling the wonderful Winter Retreat that we had up in WI at Alice's family cabin.  What a good time that was.  I would certainly love to here from anyone who remembers that.

Until next time . . . Rachel and Julie, you won't happen to know were that rag doll is?
